Have FUN planning!  We are throwing the BIGGEST party of our lives!  We should enjoy every minute of it!

About Mike:

Picture
Mike grew up in the metro-Detroit area.  He played every sport growing up: basketball, baseball, lacrosse, football, hockey...you name it.  He was an active young man!

He became interested in biking during his teenage years, and now spends a great amount of his time training for and competing with his team (the Racing Greyhounds) in mountain, road, and cyclocross races.  He and I both completed our first half-iron distance triathlons in 2010!

Mike attended Western Michigan University and graduated with a degree in Engineering.  He works for an automotive parts company in Kalamazoo.

About Me:

I grew up just one town over from Mike.  While we didn't know each other then, our paths have crossed many times.

Sports have also been a huge part of my life.  I played basketball, softball and golf in high school.  I started playing hockey in college.  And I became interested in endurance sports once I hit my mid-20's.

I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations.  I worked in the mortgage industry for 6 years.  I now work as an Application Specialist for a software company and I get to travel the country for my job.

Our Story:

Mike and I are both involved in endurance sports...biking, swimming, and running. We have mutual friends and we met at a training event on Valentines Day, 2010. After seeing each other at a few more training events and races, we both felt like something might be "there" between us.

Finally, we made plans for an official date! We met in downtown Detroit at Slow's BBQ for dinner. But our first date didn't go quite the way we planned....not only did he run out of gas on the way (which he told me months later), my car was stolen! This was not exactly how I envisioned the ending of our first date!  (I was hoping for a kiss!)

First date aside...everything since has been a dream. We had a wonderful summer, did some traveling, made some new friends, talked about the future. Things were going so great, he asked me to go ring shopping with him! We looked, and sooner than I expected...he propsed, lakeside at sunset while we were sipping wine and chatting on a swing. It was where we had our first kiss.

I love him more than I can explain and am so happy to have finally found "the one"!
